Young country

Filed under: India, social change — neosurya @ 06:11

Dwiji and Sudha helped me move my stuff around today. We met near Raheja complex at around 2:00, and he took me around collecting my stuff. Bags from BDA complex, Kormangala; Cylinder from Jyostna’s sister; stove from Sitaram. My house has been setup with halpe from family and friends :-D.

We spoke at length about urban issues in Bangalore. Sudha suggested that the chaos is a part of a growing, young nation. Chaos was an integral part of New York city, Seattle was burnt to the ground and a new town had been developed on top. In fact, remanants of the old city with its’ lawlessness are now a tourist attraction in modern downtown Seattle.

  1. That’s true – the chaos is a part of a young nation. India is on a rise. There is tremendous potential in India. But, it will be harder (and will take longer) for India to rise, than it was for the US, primarily due to population. True growth in India would come when all citizens treat each other with respect and consideration, irrespective of caste, creed, social status, economic status etc. – when people treat others like how they would like to be treated – when there is a social and moral ethic by which most citizens stand by.

  2. Hi Kay,
I am assuming you are already part of the FTI team (Elkay). If not, you should consider joining us. Look at http://freedomteam.in/.

  3. I visited the website of the Freedom Team of India and am inspired by it. It gives me a sense of hope – a hope for a better India – a hope for a rebirth of India (the land of the Vedas). The website gave me the impression that if one wanted to join the FTI, they must necessarily be ready to contest elections. Is this true ? Is there any other way to contribute to FTI ?

  4. Hey Kay,
At this point, FTI is in formative stages. So, if you are not going to contest elections, but think you can contribute to constructing the group, you should send email to the group expressing interest. I would encourage you to read some of the FTI articles.
